The Rising Sun – Ohio County School Board adopted the Indiana CORE 40
program as the prescribed curriculum for all of its graduates beginning with the
graduating class of 2006. These
requirements were in the Fall of 2005 to reflect the State changes which will go
into affect in the 2006-2007 school year. Current
CORE 40 Requirements:
Current CORE 40 with Academic Honors Requirements: Completion
of CORE 40 requirements plus (47 credit minimum): ·
Earn 2
additional CORE 40 math credits ·
Earn 6-8
CORE 40 world language credits ·
Earn 2
CORE 40 fine arts credits ·
Earn a
grade of “C” or above in courses that will count toward the diploma ·
Have an
overall GPA of “B” or above ·
Complete
one (1) of the following: ·
Two
Advanced Placement courses and corresponding AP Exams ·
Academic,
transferrable dual high school/college courses resulting in 6 college credits ·
One
Advanced Placement course and corresponding AP exam and academic transferrable
dual high school/college course(s) resulting in 3 college credits ·
Score
1200 or higher combined SAT math and verbal ·
Score a
26 composite ACT ·
An
International Baccalaureate Diploma Current
CORE 40 with Technical Honors Requirements: Completion
of CORE 40 requirements plus (47 credit minimum): ·
Earn a
grade of “C” or above in courses that will count toward the diploma ·
Have an
overall GPA of “B” or above ·
Complete
a career-technical program resulting in 8-10 credits ·
The
student must earn a state-recognized certificate or certificate of technical
achievement in the career-technical program With the requirement of the CORE 40 Program for all
of its graduates, Rising Sun High School offers a complete CORE 40 program for
those students with an Individualized Educational Plan within a resource room to
meet academic requirements.
