As part of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, beginning this school year, our school will be participating in a program authorized by the National School Lunch Act to establish a health and wellness program for our students as well as our staff. This program will include goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and nutrition guidelines to promote student health and help reduce childhood obesity.
Our school recognizes that students’ and staffs’ wellness and proper nutrition are directly related to physical well being, growth, development, and readiness to learn . We are committed to providing a school environment that promotes student and staff wellness, proper nutrition, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning experience.
As part of our program, a health and wellness link will be added to our school’s web site. Each month, new tips and advice to promote health and wellness will be added for students and parents.
